Experienced psychologist joins the team

The Retreat York is delighted to welcome aboard Dr Elaine Richardson, who brings a wealth of experience our already talented therapies team.

Elaine is a clinical psychologist with quarter of a century’s experience working in a variety of NHS adult mental health, both as a clinician and as a manager. She has worked in primary care, secondary care, specialist psychological therapies and also in a workplace wellbeing role.

An accredited cognitive behavioural psychotherapist trained in using the specialist Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) technique, Elaine also has a special interest in ‘third wave’ cognitive approaches such as compassion focused therapy.

“I’m delighted to be joining the outstanding team at The Retreat,” she explains. “I particularly looking forward to using my experience to help people with a wide range of common mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, OCD, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, bipolar disorder and personality issues.”

You can find out more about the work of Elaine and her therapy colleagues by calling us on 01904 412551.
