New clinical psychologist for Autism and ADHD service

Dr Hollie Burnett has taken up the post of clinical psychologist within our Autism and ADHD service.

Hollie completed a PhD at Hull University investigating executive functioning difficulties experienced by individuals with ASD. She also completed a Clinical Doctorate at Edinburgh University. After qualifying, Hollie worked as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist, developing services for individuals with neurodevelopmental difficulties. This included developing assessment and post diagnostic pathways for individuals with ASD/ADHD and mental health problems, such as, depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD, low self-esteem and bereavement.

Hollie said: “In my clinical practice I use an integrative and collaborative approach, adapting and drawing from a number of evidence-based therapeutic models such as, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, mindfulness and dialectical behavioural therapy to best meet a client’s needs.

“When working with individuals with ASD/ADHD, I encourage a better understanding of what their diagnosis means to them, rather than thinking about how to change it, and develop strategies to help cope with constant cycles of rumination, social anxiety, sleep/attention difficulties and low mood.”
