The Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, visited patients and staff at The Retreat in March after receiving a personal invite from patients.
Dr Sentamu was invited to The Retreat after patients suggested they would like to meet him in person. He chatted with patients and staff during his visit and was given a tour of the buildings.
Chief executive Jenny McAleese said: “This is something which people here at The Retreat asked for and we are delighted that Dr Sentamu agreed to come. The Retreat is a very special place and we’re sure he enjoyed looking round our open, spacious and calming environment where people recover.”
Jenny added: “Dr Sentamu was particularly interested in our special values and ethos. Our relationships here at The Retreat are based on respect, dignity and tolerance and we seek to reflect the humanity and spiritual values of our Quaker roots.”
