The Acorn Programme has maintained its accreditation by the Royal College of Psychiatrists as a member of Community of Communities (C of C) for another three years following a review on 27 February 2013.
Accreditation both recognises and develops the professional identity of TCs and also provides assurance to clients, commissioners, government departments, regulators and the public that the TC is of an excellent quality.
C of C is an initiative of the College Centre for Quality Improvement (CCQI), working in partnership with The Consortium of Therapeutic Communities (TCTC) and the Planned Environment Therapy Trust (PETT). Communities are reviewed against the Service Standards for Therapeutic Communities 6th Edition.
The Acorn Programme was the first Therapeutic Community to be accredited by the Community of Communities, in 2007.
