The Retreat Strensall is a mixed gender specialist mental health rehabilitation unit in the community. It provides care and treatment for older adults with long term mental health needs providing slower stream rehabilitation. Staff on the unit work with individuals to support them to regain and develop new skills, enabling them to meet their full potential and wherever possible, progress to less supported accommodation.
The Retreat Strensall takes its name from the rural village in which it is located just north of York. The Retreat Strensall site is made up of the main rehab unit along with a number of semi-independent bungalows. The unit has close ties with the local community and often gets involved in a number of regular events including summer fetes and the scarecrow contest.
