Mental healthcare for people : not for profit
George Jepson and Katherine Allen (male and female challenging behaviour units)
People are admitted to these units if they require high level of support in a hospital setting. People generally have high risk challenging behaviour, needing frequent MDT support and skilled assistance with most activities of daily living.
Allis (mixed gender unit for people who are able to be more independent but still need high level support)
People on this unit have complex, high intensity needs but are more independent than people on George Jepson or Katherine Allen.
The Cottage (rehabilitation unit for men who need additional time to develop emotional and practical skills for independent/supported living)
This unit is situated in the grounds of The Retreat with access to all its facilities. This unit is for people who need hospital based rehabilitation and who are aiming to live in a supported housing scheme or independently.
The Retreat Strensall (mixed gender, community based hospital, promoting social inclusion and independence)
People are admitted to this unit if they still require hospital care but in a less formal setting and will need less intensive support from the MDT. This environment is suitable for people who would benefit from a community setting. Based in the village of Strensall, on the outskirts of York, people can access local community facilities and benefit from a real sense of social inclusion.
