Clinical Team Leader - Specialist Older People's Service

Due to the recent expansion of the rehabilitation and recovery elements of our service, we are seeking a forward-thinking leader to manage two units in the early stages of their development.

We are looking for someone with a vision for empowering people with complex, challenging and long-standing mental health issues, to maintain their dignity and maximise their independence.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to project manage the opening of a new unit (The Cottage).
  • Have a professional qualification eg RMN, OT, Social Worker and two year post -registration experience.
  • Be able to develop a service that is psychologically-minded, socially-inclusive and recovery-orientated.

Support Worker - Specialist Older People's Service

George Jepson is a gender specific unit for older men, presenting with complex/challenging behaviours of either an organic or functional nature.  It provides person-centred recovery orientated interventions.

The successful candidate will support patients in maintaining activities of daily living, such as helping with meals and supporting engagement and meaningful occupation.  Duties will include participation in education and supervision activities and ensuring that the clinical environment is maintained to the highest standard.

Applicants must have experience of working in a Mental Health environment.

The Care and Rehabilitation of Older People post covers our services for people with long-standing mental health problems and people with dementing disorders. We offer a range of services focussed on active recovery and rehabilitation. We are looking to develop these services and to create examples of best practice in the area.

Staff Nurse (RMN) - Specialist Older People's Service

This service offers specialist care to older people within four units.  Patients either have organic brain disorder such as dementia; or functional disorder such as psychosis, depression or personality disorder.  The multidisciplinary team is experienced in understanding and resolving complex and challenging behaviours in a dignified manner.  The holistic Biopsychosocial (BPS) approach supports the person to recover a sense of their own identity, optimising their strengths.

The Retreat runs an efficient Bank service to help out our regular nursing staff to cover sickness absence, annual leave, temporary short-staffing or simply extra workload.  Bank staff are a vital and highly valued support to our regular nursing staff and are welcome to join any in-house training, lectures, events etc and may apply for membership of The Retreat's Resource Centre.
