This is an exciting opportunity to manage a gender specific unit for Older People (male), presenting with challenging behaviours of either an organic or functional nature. We will look to you to continue to develop the service and requires a manager that understands the commissioning process and is able to maintain and enhance its network of referrers and commissioners.
An ideal career development opportunity, managing this service requires someone who is experienced in a psychosocial model and is psychologically minded, as well as being cognizant of the physical requirements of this patient group. Furthermore, we will expect you to have both mutli-disciplinary and organizational management experience as the role will see you responsible for the unit budget and managing a staff team, including the management of attendance, sickness absence and performance management.

The Hannah Mills Unit is part of The Retreat's Specialist Adult Service, which provides assessment and psychiatric rehabilitation for people with complex mental health problems, including psychosis, self harm, substance misuse and mood disorders.
It is essential that the candidate be a Registered Mental Health Nurse who has sucessfully completed their preceptorship. You need to be able to demonstrate a mature outlook and be a thoughtful person who is willing to think psychologically and with a genuine interest in working with this patient group in a way that promotes responsibility and choice. The ideal candidate will also be committed to high standards of Professional Nursing Practice and have good written and verbal communication skills and be I.T. literate.
This position involves working shifts including early, late and night shifts.
